Pick an economic field, e.g., monetary economics, development, growth, education, health care, history, enivironmental, energy, finance, etc... Maybe you want to choose a field that you are/have taking/taken a class for.
Goto Google Scholar and search for a paper that uses the thing from your list and is in the field you chose. Pick one of the results with a decent citation count or that is published in an economics journal.
Read the abstract/skim the intro. What is the research question? What are the findings?
